SHIFT Communications introduced the first "Social Media Press Release" format this week. They've gotten a lot of feedback from the PR community and media. There are mixed reviews and, of course, there will be. I still some times have trouble convincing some executives that press release headlines and leads should not announce that they are announcing something.
It will be interesting to see how PR professionals, newswires and media adopt and adapt to this format. I am on board with it as long as the media that I pitching are open to it. Considering there are still members of the MSM that prefer to receive materials via snail mail and fax, it may be awhile of mixing formats for me.

Hi Kimberly -
Still digging thru the reactions to our template, but am finally finding the time to say "thank you" for your kind words. I don't think we'll know whether the media are open to it until we start introducing it to them, eh? We've got to start somewhere... are you ready? ;)
